BURBERRY KICKS SOME MERCHANDISING GOALS WITH HOT AIR BALLOON INSTALLATION

    British luxury fashion house, Burberry, has unveiled a life-size hot air balloon and pop-up store at London’s Heathrow Airport.

    Celebrating the magic of flight, this Burberry Balloon installation is inspired by the real-life achievements of Air Commodore Edward Maitland, who wore Burberry gabardine suiting, and with fellow balloonists Auguste Gaudron and Charles Turner — travelled 1,117 miles from the Crystal Palace in London to Russia in 1908 to establish the British long-distance in-flight record.

    Located in the departure lounge of Heathrow Terminal 2: The Queen’s Terminal — the installation stands over 15 meters (49 feet), which features dedicated iPads and Burberry post boxes, allowing travelers to create and print their own Burberry postcards, and send them to friends or family. In addition, an animated video of the Burberry Balloon and its journey from Heathrow to the chosen destination can be shared on the user’s social media account.
