Creative, Expressive and Passionate – that’s how Rhea Jacobs describes herself. We meet Rhea, an artist, BA Fashion honors graduate and a blogger who shares her thoughts on Fashion, Art and Culture on RJACOBSTHEBLOG. She tells D-journal all about being an influencer in Dubai, her last trip to Armenia, the role of Bob Marley and herbal tea in her life.
Your mum accompanied you during the shoot, you’ve also mentioned previously that your first beauty memory was watching her dress up for work when you were 5-6 years old. Is she a big influence in your life and in what way?
Absolutely! She’s the reason Rhea Jacobs turned into RJacobs. I always envisioned what I wanted to be, My mother helped me turn that into reality, she’s the one person who believed in my dreams since the get go and has been my anchor ever since. My mother is my mirror, be it for my life choices, decisions, reality checks or even simple style advice.
I grew up watching her be a strong, independent and empowered woman. We inherited these qualities from my Grandmother who is trail blazer, a true career woman! She was a Gazetted officer for the government in her time. That’s my biggest influence in everything I do. You can see my mother in my work and that’s how I want it to be.
You graduated with a BA Honors in Fashion Design. Do you see your career steering into apparel design?
Currently, I enjoy translating my creativity through Art and content creation. I design and make a lot of my outfits too. Now, will this evolve into a brand well Que cera cera?
It must be elating to be recognised and appreciated by your followers. Does it make you feel like seasoned star?
Honestly, I feel an immense sense of gratitude for all the love and support. As far as feeling like a star, I’m just here to do what I love, grow and perfect it with time and by God’s Grace the appreciation and support I receive is a blessing.
How did it all begin? Do you remember your first blogging experience?
It began last October; I had just graduated a 4-year course in Fashion and I was at a point where I needed to express my creativity through art without any limitations. I can still recall the day I was browsing through some magazines and thought to myself “What if I could translate Art through fashion and beauty?” The very day I sat my parents down and both of them loved the idea. I purchased a camera right away and taught my mom how to use it and we’ve been shooting ever since. I transformed my personal instagram account with a mere 200 followers into Therjacobs (you can still see some of my old personal photos, I wanted to leave it so my followers could see my evolution).

Colors and aesthetics are key when it comes to planning a look. When designing my outfits I am constantly inspired by organic shapes. I’m inspired by various aspects like nature, art and architecture.
If you could do anything you wanted in life without keeping the money aspect in mind, what would you do?
I would like to help people through my work, we’re at the highest point of globalization and communication since the beginning of time . But the one thing that needs to go around most is aid and resources to countries in need. Simple things like food, water, healthcare and education, I truly want to make a difference in this light. Ever since I was a child I wanted to travel to countries and make a difference but I wanted to do so with my earned money. So, that’s my goal, to earn enough to make a difference.
Being a beauty blogger and influencer, can you narrate an instance when you realized you actually influenced someone?
I receive a lot of sweet messages from my followers but the most memorable would have to be a high school student I met at a talk where I was the guest speaker. She walked up to me and said how I’ve made her embrace her individuality and follow her dreams. And that to me meant a lot because I always stress, “No matter who you are or where you’re from, you can achieve your dreams“.

How does a regular day in Rhea’s life look like?
My day begins around 7 am, the first thing I do is check my emails then hit the shower and finally skincare. Next, I run down to feed my cat and dog and grab breakfast with a cup of herbal tea. After which I respond to my emails and finally head out to shoot. If I’m not shooting I’m either at meetings or working on something creative like planning mood boards, painting, designing or sourcing fabric. I’m currently working on an Art Series collection so I spend a lot of time painting.
Regular social media checks and researching inspiration for the following content through the day go without saying. Evenings usually involve walks with my dog, a short run around the lake next to my house, dinner with family, skincare then bed.
