On the evening of 7 May, Chic Nonna turns its attention from the plate to the ritual of smoke, unveiling a thoughtfully composed cigar experience in collaboration with Pair Cigar Lounge and Boutique. Beginning at 9PM, the one-night-only event signals a more expansive approach to luxury dining in the city, one that privileges storytelling, craftsmanship, and the quiet theatre of shared experience.
Set against the restaurant’s polished interiors, the evening has been designed to bridge education and indulgence, welcoming both the cigar-curious and the well-versed. At its core is a considered exploration of two of Cuba’s most iconic cigars, each selected not only for its global reputation but for the distinct narrative it brings to the table.
Guests are invited to choose their path. For those at the beginning of their journey, the Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills offers an elegant introduction balanced, approachable, and steeped in legacy, with enduring ties to Winston Churchill himself. More seasoned aficionados may gravitate towards the Partagás Serie D No. 4, a fuller-bodied expression with over a century of heritage behind it, prized for its intensity, structure, and unmistakable depth.
What sets the evening apart is its immersive format. A certified vitolier, accredited by the Habanos Academy, will guide guests throughout, not from a distance but in shared participation. From the precision of cutting and lighting to the subtleties of draw, burn, and flavour progression, the experience unfolds in real time, encouraging dialogue, comparison, and a more intuitive understanding of the craft.
Pairing, as the name suggests, plays a central role. In collaboration with Chic Nonna’s bar team, Pair has curated a series of drinks designed to reveal different dimensions of each cigar. A non-alcoholic option presents a trio of signature mocktails, each calibrated to complement the evolving profile of the smoke, while the alcoholic pairing offers a more layered progression.

For those selecting Romeo y Julieta, the journey moves from the brightness of Ruinart Brut through the complexity of The Macallan 15, concluding with the warmth of Ron Zacapa 23. The Partagás pairing, by contrast, leans into richness Chianti Classico, Taylor’s 10 Year Old Port, and The Macallan 15 combining to mirror and amplify the cigar’s robust character.
