Frou Frou Brings Parisian Panache to The Lana Promenade
A whisper of Belle Époque glamour has arrived in Dubai. Frou Frou—the evocatively named Parisian restaurant known for its flair and finesse—has officially opened its doors at The Lana Promenade, under the prestigious Dorchester Collection. Conceptualised and developed by Bulldozer Group, this marks the brand’s third outpost globally, with a forthcoming opening in Marbella on the horizon.
Named after the delicate rustle of silk skirts—the frou frou of the famed Can-can—the restaurant is an ode to turn-of-the-century Paris, when opulence met artistic rebellion in the cafés and salons of Montmartre. At Frou Frou Dubai, that same joie de vivre is brought to life with spirited interiors, bold cuisine, and a setting that feels more like a soirée than a supper.
Inside, the atmosphere is decadent yet inviting. Ruffled textures, gilded finishes, and earthy terracottas are softened by lush greenery and plush fabrics. Statement artworks channel the festive bohemia of 1900s Paris, while the canal-side terrace—with views that sweep across Business Bay to the Burj Khalifa—offers a more languid, al fresco rhythm to the experience.
The culinary direction, led by Chef Leonid Ivanov, is unapologetically indulgent. French classics are presented with contemporary flair: Salade Niçoise, Tartare de Veau, and Soupe à l’Oignon are reimagined with elevated ingredients such as foie gras, hazelnuts, and aged Gruyère. Escargots are no longer a quiet starter, but a celebratory dish, dressed in butter and bravado.
Main courses lean into Mediterranean elegance—Langoustines Grillées, Rouget Entier, and a silken Paccheri à la Truffesuggest a confident hand and a generous heart. Desserts are as evocative as the name: Soufflé à la Banane and Crème Brûlée à la Passion are unabashedly nostalgic, yet never old-fashioned. A dedicated cheese menu, featuring meticulously curated French fromages, invites diners to linger just a little longer.
Naturally, the wine cellar is as considered as the cuisine. A discerning edit of Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhône, and Loire vintages—some iconic, others rare—anchors the wine list, with an expansive Champagne selection offering just the right note of celebratory excess.
Frou Frou joins a refined culinary enclave at The Lana, alongside Riviera by Jean Imbert, Jara by Martín Berasategui, and Bonbon Café by Angelo Musa. Soon to be joined by China Tang and Dragonfly by Reif Othman, The Lana Promenade is shaping up to be Dubai’s most elegant dining destination.
